Overview

ECRAN is a three-year project funded by the European Union to provide advice on China to European policy makers.

It is designed to further enhance the capacity of European policy-makers to monitor and assess current developments in China and their impact on the EU and on EU-China relations.

Dr Kerry Brown, Head of the Asia Programme at Chatham House, serves as the team leader for ECRAN. He will work alongside Chatham House Associate Fellow, Professor Shaun Breslin, and Dr Shujie Yao and Professor Lina Song, both of whom are based at Nottingham University. The project also involves a number of short term experts from research institutions across Europe with expertise in China-related areas of study.

ECRAN also aims to establish a network of European researchers and research institutes specialised in China and EU-China relations. The project will mobilise experts to carry out targeted studies and release related publications; participate in conferences and workshops; and prepare policy briefings for a broad range of EU officials and stakeholders. This website will allow members of the network to access some of this analysis and receive notification of forthcoming ECRAN events.

The ECRAN consortium members are Steinbeis GmbH & Co. KG für Technologietransfer, Chatham House, Nottingham University and Galway Development Services International (GDSI).
